Band

Smart Intermediate School offers a number of opportunities for students to participate in music. The band program has two bands, plus a wide range of opportunities for enrichment and extension.

7th and 8th Grade Band

This course is a more advanced continuation of the Sixth Grade Band experience with the goal of developing even higher level musical skills. The class meets daily with an additional individual lesson for each student once a week. Musical objectives include a unit of marching band instruction with performances at a marching exhibition and a parade in the fall; multiple performances in a concert band environment; a solo festival experience; and the opportunity to audition for Honor Bands. Attendance at all performances is a requirement of the course. Seventh and Eighth Grade Band requires one year of participation in Sixth Grade Band.

Enrichment and Extension Opportunities

In addition to having a full class period rehearsal every day for all students, there are several opportunities for students to further their musical experience.
